Homegrown: Music Guests | Shy Boys

Shy Boys reside on the western-edge of Kansas City, Missouri; roommates Collin Rausch (vocals, guitar), Kyle Rausch (vocals, bass) and Konnor Ervin (vocals, drums) sing velvet harmonies backed with their own brand of jagged pop music.

Falling short of their goal to become an oldies cover band, Shy Boys eventually took to playing their own material. The transition was a smooth one. Shy Boys draw from the sweet, mellow sounds of good 60’s pop. Rather than covering 1960’s classics, they’ve built an aesthetic inspired by them, with high harmonies, gentle jangles and innocent lyrics. A little bit of the Association, and a little bit of Real Estate. And sometimes, Dirty Beaches. Live sets of tender jams will often move to wild, unexpected places.

Shy Boys took to the DIY communal aspect through house shows, and have quickly become one of Kansas City’s favorite acts. The band recently received the honor of “Best Band Everyone Can Agree Upon” in the Pitch’s 2013 ‘Best Of’ Issue. The group just finished their anticipated self-titled debut which will be released in the coming months on High Dive Records.

Don’t forget, Homegrown: Music is this Thursday, November 21. Buy your tickets here.
