Position Descriptions

Chair of Communications
You are a strategy-minded person with the ability to guide and coordinate a creative team and manage projects. As Chair of Communications, you will work closely with the President/VP’s and fellow committee Chairs to gather content for our newsletter, website, and map out a strategic approach to promoting events through our various digital channels.

Chair of Education
As the Chair of Education, you are someone who strives to create an environment that champions student leadership and growth. You have a passion for developing and nurturing relationships between AIGA KC and regional educators, schools, and students. Additionally, you find importance in facilitating student mentorship programs, portfolio reviews, and educational programming geared towards designers.

Brand voice. You know what that means, right? As Director of Communications you are keeper of the AIGA KC voice. You are our quality control, responsible for maintaining a consistent written tone and visual style in all communications. You also have a penchant for writing informative and engaging copy that pairs well with engaging visuals. With your help, we can make sure our many events and programs are promoted in a concise yet inviting way.

Your motto is “the more the merrier.” You love meeting new people and preaching the design gospel. You would oversee the growth of our Chapter’s membership. You are responsible for encouraging new memberships, as well as helping with the needs of our existing membership.

You have a strong interest in education with an interest in planning programs and events for students. You’ll plan the annual Portfolio Review and several other student events throughout the year. This is a two-year, elected, voting position on the board of directors.

As Director of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, you are someone who focuses on improving the inclusion efforts of existing programs and events and training for our board and members. You’ll provide resources, dialogue, and creative materials that inform and positively change our communities.

Have an event idea that you’ve always wanted to make happen? Now’s your chance. As Director of Programming you’ll produce vital, core AIGA programming throughout the year. We’ve identified several strategic areas for programming. In the application process you can check off your interest areas and we’ll do our best to match you with those interests.

You are someone skilled in fostering relationships with outside organizations that provide financial and in-kind support for chapter programming and activities. As the Director of Sponsorship, you’ll work with committee members to generate and implement fundraising ideas and form relationships with organizations (non-profits, corporations, agencies, etc) in the community to ensure their continued support.

Communications – Social + Newsletter + Web
You love the likes, enjoy engaging with your flock of faithful followers, and live for a live event video feed. You know what it takes to get content online and make a WordPress website work for you. You’ll assist with creating event registration via Eventbrite, adding events and articles to the website, and sending out monthly newsletters through Mailchimp. If you’re a virtual social butterfly, join the comms team and put those talents to good use. This is a one-year, appointed, non-voting position on a board committee.

Celebration and recognition of great design is a primary goal of AIGA. You’ll work closely with Sponsorship and Communications to make the event successful. You’ll build support and enthusiasm on the board for the awards program.

You love working alongside experienced members of the board working to plan events and programs that provide value to our members. You relish the opportunity to plan, coordinate and execute programs aligning with AIGA KC’s greater vision. This is a one-year, appointed, non-voting position on a board committee.

You are someone passionate about challenging the creative community to be DEI intentional in their work. You are responsible for tasks assigned to you by your Directors and you are an individual who enjoys operating as an active liaison between committees and networks with event attendees and community partners. This is a one-year, appointed, non-voting position on a board committee.
