Hello AIGA KC,

In 1989, Ann Willoughby, John Muller and 18 of their fellow creatives embarked on an adventure which would unite designers, doers, thinkers, and makers with the intent to establish a community where they could thrive together – AIGA KC. Today, these efforts culminate to realize a group more than 500 members strong, an all-volunteer board, and one of the top 10 largest chapters out of the more than 70 throughout the country.

Now and in the coming months, we invite you to celebrate with us, AIGA KC’s 30 year anniversary, as well as our local design community as a whole, by supporting and participating in our many events throughout the year. Coincidentally, 2019 also marks the 15th anniversary for our Design Awards Exhibition & Gala. We will be celebrating both milestones at the September 27 event with a special legacy category honoring exceptional KC designs of the past 30 years.

Thank you – to members both past and present – for making AIGA KC the chapter we are today as we keep alive our founders’ simple yet critical mission to showcase and celebrate Kansas City’s design excellence. It is our sincere hope to continue to spark inspiration in, and demonstrate inclusivity to, all of our creative community — designers just starting out, those in their mid-career, seasoned mentors, illustrators, UX designers, educators, copywriters, consultants, photographers, friends and more.

Thanks to all for making AIGA KC the success it is today. I can’t wait to see what the next 30 years bring!
