AIGA Kansas City, a 100% volunteer-run organization, wants you to help us shape our area’s creative landscape. We’re seeking volunteers to join our board, which works to deliver exciting and diverse creative programming. Individuals with a passion for design, vision for our community, and drive to make things happen are encouraged to apply.
The incoming volunteer board will play a pivotal role in continuing to position AIGA KC as a leader within the local design community and beyond. Serving on the board can enrich both your personal and professional life by introducing you to industry leaders and up-and-coming talent. There are opportunities to serve at all levels. Regardless of position, you’ll work alongside a passionate team of returning board members, giving you the chance to connect with peers and gain new skills in a role that suits you.
AIGA membership is not required at the time of application, but once elected, board members are required to join and maintain memberships for the duration of their terms. Membership
Your motto is “the more the merrier.” You love meeting new people and preaching the design gospel. You would oversee the growth of our Chapter’s membership. You are responsible for encouraging new memberships, as well as helping with the needs of our existing membership.
Gala
You’ll assist with long-term planning, goal setting, and budgets for our annual gala. The position requires an on-the-ground task executor able to see things through. With guidance from the Co-Chairs, you’d be expected to lead and mentor Associates, provide quality control, and assist with the set-up and break-down of events. You’ll be working hand in hand with the Director of Entries and building goals to gain more profit for AIGA KC. You’ve got a lot of energy and like to make connections with local businesses for sponsorship and other opportunities.
Associates
Communications – Social + Newsletter + Web
You love the likes, enjoy engaging with your flock of faithful followers, and live for a live event video feed. You know what it takes to get content online and make a WordPress website work for you. You’ll assist with creating event registration via Eventbrite, adding events and articles to the website, and sending out monthly newsletters through Mailchimp. The lifeblood of our communications team lies with you — and your peers. (Don’t worry, you won’t be alone in this.) If you’re a virtual social butterfly, join the comms team and put those talents to good use. This is a one-year, appointed, non-voting position on a board committee.
Programming
You love working alongside experienced members of the board working to plan events and programs that provide value to our members. You would relish the opportunity to plan, coordinate and execute programs aligning with AIGA KC’s greater vision. This is a one-year, appointed, non-voting position on a board committee.
Sponsorship
You enjoy working through processes and coming up with new ways to identify and engage potential sponsors for chapter events and initiatives. You delight in networking and are a strong communicator, able to effectively coordinate with sponsors and event Chairs. You revel in relaying the benefits and importance of supporting design and our organization. This is a one-year, appointed, non-voting committee position.
Student Advocate
This position is for you if you’re a full-time graphic design student in the area and would enjoy being the voice for AIGA KC student members, helping spread the word about AIGA KC events to students.
Volunteer Opportunities
