Photo Lab at the Nelson

Take better photos with us!

Join us Friday, November 19 from 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, for a brief photo tutorial and casual lab session with both James Meierotto and Carley Hail. Practice capturing people and environment shots with unique flattering angles with your mobile or DLSR camera. Bring a friend or favorite photo subject!

Event Details

Event attendees will meet in the Nelson front lawn next to the southeast shuttlecock for the tutorial with James and Carley. Once we’ve wrapped up our photography session with we’ll provide each individual with a QR code, which is your 5:00 pm form of entry to the museum.

Then, through a series of prompts you will take your learnings and explore the Nelson in search of the perfect shots. Submit your results afterwards to be featured on AIGA KC social!

Photographer Bios:

James Meierotto

James believes that the most captivating stories are found in the moments others hurry past. His sought-after ability to slow down time with the lens allows him to relate to the world in a more meaningful way. As a result, James tells visual narratives through the grit, elegance, irony and whimsy of life.

James travels the country as a photographer, director and DP to create compelling stories for clients ranging from Firestone, NTB, Coca-Cola, Kellogg’s to LG and US Bank. He authentically connects clients with their audience with creativity and a straight-forward, genuine approach to collaboration and communication.

Carley Hail

Carley Hail is a portrait photographer who makes bold, colorful, and bright imagery. After leaving her small farm town in Illinois to study photography at the University of Central Missouri, Carley was drawn to the commercial and advertising industry. Her love for making images took her to many places around the world during college. Carley did assignment work in India and studied abroad in Auckland, New Zealand. Her most recent trip was a 14 day trek in the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp. After graduating with a photography degree, Carley joined 19 Below. She loves meeting new clients and sharing social media content for 19 Below.
